Visited on a Saturday evening to this five year old brewery. They were packed and with good reason. They have 18 beers on tap and the six-beer flight I tasted were all excellent. They offer a standard flight or build-your-own. They had a couple casks when I visited. Growlers are available to go and kegs are distributed locally. I’m amazed at the number of beers they produce with their 7 barrel system which is steam fired. They do have non-beer drinks such as canned soda. Based on the number of people at the tap room when we visited, they could use a bigger space. They have outdoor seating to help a bit. There is plenty of parking in front of the brewery which is located in a semi-industrial zone. They don’t have food service but do offer snacks. They have TV, music, and Wi-Fi for those not interested in people watching.

Not only is 12 string another example of an individual casting aside the day job to open his own brewery, but he literally built the place himself. The tasting room in Spokane Valley should be just a section of a warehouse in an industrial area. Instead, it's a wood-paneled masterpiece. Even the bar and tables are handcrafted by the owner. There's also a small stage in the corner for local acts. Gotta rate the atmosphere a five for that.

Service also got a five because that's what you can expect when being only one of three people in the bar between 3 and 4pm on a Wednesday.

Now selection has room for improvement, literally. They've built twelve taps, nine of which were in use and two were guest taps. The seven beers I got to try were two versions of their G-String Blonde (apparently the initial version was too hoppy for a blonde, yet was actually the better beer IMO), two IPAs (C#7#5# very good, the Jam Session unique), a mediocre Archtop Amber, a decent Don't Fret Porter, and another unique brew called 12 Strings of Winter - not as spicy as your usual Christmas beer, but seasonally flavored nonetheless. With that light porter on the dark end of their spectrum, there's definitely room for something heavier. Note that they do write up a Drop D Stout on the website, so I expect that the role will be filled sooner than later.

Being a new brewery, you can see they're playing with their styles - plus, they're already altering the Blonde recipe. You can't go wrong with fresh ideas down the line even after some flagship recipes become established.

Sample tray: 7 beers, $7
Pint of original Blonde: $4
A few menu items are available such as the "meat and cheese plate" and chips & homemade salsa.

This person needs 3 or more reviews on the site for their scores to start counting.

Stopped in for a taste of the new brewery on New Years Eve. All the tables were full but I found a seat at the bar. They were out of Electric Slide IPA but had brewed another well balanced IPA that was very good. I bought a growler of it to bring home.

My wife liked the G String Blond but found their wine list more to her liking.

The taproom is nicely done with solid wood counter tops. There is also a small stage for upcoming events.
