This is definitely a work in process – but that’s not necessarily bad. All of my comments below reflect where they are now, not where they are headed.

The setup – they sell tickets for sample tastings. $5 gets you the 1st sample plus 4 tickets. The samples are nominally two ounces each, but they seem to round up a tad. It’s a bit of a construction site with a plywood bar and used mismatched furniture. Toys off in the corner to occupy the little ones.

The beer – about 8 or so drafts. Typical styles: light, Helles, pale, two IPAs, a stout. The 5 that I tasted all fit the style guidelines. They were all very clean. I stopped in on a late Saturday afternoon and they were doing a very brisk growler refill business. Clearly a bunch of regular customers.

The food – right now there is no food, but when we stopped by there was a barbecue truck & tent out front selling plates that people would bring in. Their FAQ blackboard says they plan to offer light food or snacks to compliment the beer. They do not currently plan to offer a full food menu, instead preferring to focus on the beer.

If Sweetwater’s is like the National Symphony Orchestra, then Lost Rhino is more like the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
