As of late 2011 Mountain State Brewing Co has 3 locations -- the main brewery and taproom in Thomas WV, their eastern location in McHenry MD, and their newest location in Morgantown, WV. The beers are all brewed in Thomas, but all three locations have similar decor and feel. Mountain State offers only 4 year-round beers, plus perhaps 1 seasonal. Cold Trail Ale is their smooth flagship beer, Almost Heaven Amber is medium-bodied, Miner's Daughter Stout is robust, and my favorite is their hoppy Seneca Indian Pale Ale. All these beers are confined to a narrow 5.2 to 5.5% abv range. Mountain State has an average offering of trustworthy beers, and doesn't seem to experiment much, though I did enjoy their Raspberry Wheat on tap. The new Morgantown WV location has a college town feel, and is already a popular brewpub. Be prepared to pay for parking. The wood-fired flatbread oven is an impressive centerpiece for the restaurant, and the pizza is delivers is very tasty!
