Christian Moerlein, a Bavarian immigrant, opened his eponymous Cincinatti brewery in 1853. The brewery closed at Prohibition, and the name was not reintroduced until 1981. Greg Hardman purchased the brand and opened the Christian Moerlein Brewery at 1621 Moore Street, a former potato chip factory, blocks from the site of the original brewery. The two-story brick building stands amidst several abandoned brick residence buildings, and there is a gravel parking lot across the street. This isn't the best atmosphere to attract visitors, and there is no taproom or beer tastings here. There is a small Christian Moerlein sign over the entrance, but I simply found a locked door with no information. Alternative to this production brewery, the Christian Moerlein brewery also opened a nice brewpub located at 115 Joe Nuxhall Way. I recommend visiting there to sample their beers.
