Re-visit 04/08: Had dinner here early in the evening, it was pretty dead and service was aloof. Had to ask for a glass with a craft beer. There was an ant found crawling in the bottom of my water glass(indoors), and instead of offering to comp a drink or apologize, the server made a joke about it. The food was ok, but the sandwiches were pretty dry and small for being $11. The cajun potato side was similarly dry and low on flavor. Go here to see a show, but don't go out of your way otherwise.

Beat Kitchen is in my neighborhood, and it's a good place to eat or see a band play in the back. Their bar is cozy, alot of wood, with antique cooler doors that are fun to peek into. It's situated on a corner, with windows facing Belmont Ave. Patio seating is nice in the summer.

There is a menu that showcases gourmet pizza and sandwiches. Pesto crostini was warm and tasty.

It gets fairly smoky, especially in the back room where the bands play. Plastic "glassware" is often used for drafts during shows, you'll have to ask for a proper glass usually. They have Duvel & Delerium tulips behind the bar, hopefully not as a decorative accent. Decent tap list, usually a Sprecher & 3 Floyds option, Mendocino recently. Bottles have a few nice Belgian and German options, Alpha King too.

Within crawling distance are Hungry Brain, Underbar, Village Tap, and Four Moon Tavern.
