"How can we miss you if you don't leave."
Greetings from the Old West town of Winthrop, in the Methow (pronounced Met-how) valley of Washington.
A beautiful drive through the Alps of the West brings you into this village complete with wooden sidewalks and attitude. Yes, it's a tourist town in the summer and stays open until 10:00 PM where you can stroll the streets w/an ice cream and, on Saturdays, venture into one of 3 places for live music - everything from rockabilly to blues.
You might miss the Winthrop Brewing Company if you're not looking for the sign...the building is small but long and on those musical Saturdays, you're lucky to find a place to stand.
But do and have a brew or two. There are, count 'em, 12 on tap, enough to satisfy any taste; Grizzly Paw Honey Rye, Winthrop Wheat, Oat Stout, Two Rivers IPA (Winthrop sits on the confluence of the Twisp & Methow Rivers), Boulder Creek Bock, Black Canyon Porter, Hopalong Red, Outlaw Pale Ale, Bushwacker ESB, Gold Strike Golden Ale, Granpa Clem's Brown and the Tombstone Barley Wine. Wife Persimmon thought it too strong but I it was not too fruity and went down easy and smooth as did Granpa Clem's brown and the Bock. WONderful!!
Menu is typical pub fare but filling. If possible, avoid a weekend in the summer here. Crowds can be horrendous but in the middle of the week, take a quick step back in time, put on the cowboy hat and saddle up, pardner!
