The town of Edwards is home to two breweries, conveniently close to I-70, making it a nice place for a quick visit. The Crazy Mountain brewery occupies the lower level of two-story tan building. Drive around back to the dedicated parking and entrance in the rear. Outside is a tall corrugated steel grain silo and stacks of kegs. White garage doors open to the brewery, and they have a small tasting room. There are a few tables and a short wooden bar with a few chairs. Wooden panels behind the bar list their dozen or so craft beers on tap. The tasting room doesn't seem like the kind of place you hang out at, since this feels more like a production facility. But the staff is super friendly and enthusiastic about sharing samples. They sell beer by the glass, flight, growler, six pack of cans, and keg. Their delicious beer is very well crafted and I was impressed at their mastery across styles. My favorites were their IPA, Barleywine, and Coffee Stout. Behind the bar is the large brewery floor. They have midsize stainless steel brewing vessels and a large farm of many stainless steel fermenters. Brewing equipment is everywhere and there racks of barrel aging beer. This brewery has done well for itself and in 2015 expanded to a 2nd location in Denver, the former space occupied by the Breckenridge brewery before its major expansion. This excellent Colorado craft brewer will continue to do well.
