When I first joined the Air Force in 2010 I got my first assignment in Abilene TX. So the first thing I did was scope the area out and luckily they had this one brew pub. So I checked it out on my first visit looking for houses and at the time I was bought. The beer was good and the food even better. But as I started going more often the beer just wasn't as good. It progressively got worse. Then after speaking with one of my co-workers who worked there part time I knew why things were off. The first time I had gone I drank fresh beer. Less than a week old. Well it turns out the owner who is also the brewer serves the beer right out of the bright tanks. I believe them to be a 3 barrel system. 4 beers always available. Well it turns out he serves from them until they are all gone. And being a small town with not many craft beer drinkers it takes awhile for the beer to get drank up. I think their sanitation probably isn't the best either. That includes line cleaning. I would say though that their beer when fresh is moderate. Nothing spectacular and not horrible. But let it sit and it gets bad. Other than their own beer they do have a great selection of bottled beer. Ommegang, Dog Fish, Deschutes, North Coast. A lot of good if you find their beer to be bad.

Atmosphere is great. It looks really nice when you first walk in and you wonder if you shouldn't be dressed up. Well, you can be if you chose. But jeans and T are welcome. It's relatively quiet unless its happy hour then the level is up a little in the bar area which is actually walled off from the rest of the restaurant.

Parking is limited. Its on a one way street and very few spots. So you may have to drive around the block until you find one or look for a parking lot. Not sure where the nearest one is though. I've got lucky every time I've gone.

Now on to the food. The food there in my opinion is great! Its a little pricey though. The menu isn't very big but they always have a few daily specials that aren't on the main menu. Every time I've eaten there I've never had a complaint with the food.

Service is touch and go. I've had a few bad servers and a few really great servers. After talking to the owner myself when my wife was inquiring for a job, it turns out they get a lot of college students in and out the door. So their turn around is quite large. So just be prepared for anything I guess when it comes to service. I do however like that the owner also takes part in waiting tables as well and if you get him you'll know right away.

Overall this place is a good place. Not to many complaints from me except for their brewing practices. I would recommend.
