Three Rivers Brew
Farmington, NM
February 15, 2008

Three Rivers Brewery is in the far far NW part of New Mexico, near 4 corners. The brewery and restaurant is on almost a half city block in downtown Farmington. The bar and brewery are down the block from the restaurant and can get food down but always had popcorn popping. The bar has a south exposed patio which allows smoking with plenty of shade in the summer.

There is a good internet connection and several pool tables. I have visited the bar on several occasional but only during the week. This time, about noon, there were people in the bar playing pool, chatting and drinking. The barmaid recognized and greeted regulars who bought beer from the cooler and growlers to take home.

The building is classic, tin ceiling, wood floor and as one enter the door, a ‘hop scotch’ of beers. ( see picture). All in all it is comfortable place either to chat and visit or to just be with oneself. Beer run the range of normal microbrews with two cask conditioned beers. I had their IPA both the cask and normally dispensed. I am hesitant to add, the cask beer was off considerably, either because of air in cask or a dirty line. It was early and very shortly after they had opened.

The best selling beer was the Golden Honey and the cider. Price was reasonable in the $4.00 range. Course after just coming from California, this seemed very reasonable, see Silverado and other notes.

The restaurant was full and very family friendly. Fare leaned toward Mexican and a hamburger was $9.95. I had a plate of appetizer nachos which were all I could eat.

I would return for the food, beer and atmosphere.
