linkWaterstreet was a fun stop on a recent trip out to the Quad Cities. It's near Starved Rock, if you're looking for a place to avoid tourists. They have a nice menu, regional specialties like pork tenderloin, country fried chicken, and pulled pork. It's right along the Illinois River, which makes for a nice view. The building was originally constructed as a tavern in 1837.
Beer selection is average, though their niche seems to be nostalgia beers like Hamms, Schlitz, Blatz, Old Style, etc. They did serve Oberon on tap in a Bells pint. Not much craft beer, though they did have 19 taps on the wall behind the bar.
Service was quick at lunch time, and the food was good. There's outdoor seating on a patio, and live music on the weekends too.
The shining star of this place is the atmosphere, it's cozy and homey, packed with alot of breweriana and historical decor. Star Model beer signs all around, which was once brewed in Peru, IL. Lots of vintage lighted signs, like the Hamms waterfall and others. Wood paneled walls, with a hanging boat wheel, and maritime lanterns. Vintage tap handles on some of the beers was a cool touch also.
Stop in for some food and beers, and be sure to check out Rudy's nearby for a good selection of craft beer.
