I really like their Endo IPA, and the Low Down Brown is a nice beer. The other beers in their sampler were not really outstanding, but decent. They didn't have any of the Frostbite when we were there. The only one I really could not stand was the almond stout. I found it to be almost undrinkable. It was really thin, and had a very off-putting burnt flavor.The food was really good. I liked the food the previous owners served, but it is definitely better under the direction of Woods.
When we were there there was steam escaping their brewing equipment, so hopefully that's a sign that they'll be brewing on premises soon. I'd really like to see them brew some more adventurous beers. Charlotte really needs an outstanding brewery.

linkWoods on South is the new pilot brewery, well, old Southend location really, for Carolina Beer & Beverage in Mooresville. They just fired up the kettle last week, so no beer on from the brewpub facilities. 10 drafts, all CB&B, but Endo seems much fresher than anything found anywhere out and about, perhaps others might be the same. On the night of the visit they were out of Frostbite, so really only 9 on tap.
The food was excellent and then very good. The warm spinach salad was top notch. I have never had a finer spinach salad, the greens were warm but not wilted in the least. I settled on a pizza with Pepperoni and Andouille Sausage and the pizza was very good, but the sausage was so mild that any self respecting Cajun would have got up and left the restaurant.
The place is non-smoking and seemed a bit on the trendy side with plenty of after work folks in ties and such in tow. My server too awhile to get to the table but was top notch, second to none! I cannot give top marks due to the lull in coming round, but once she hit my table she was excellent, a perfect 5.0.
Once I think they are pulling out of the fermenter at the pilot brewery I'll head back to Woods. The menu needs further exploration and the beers just might become interesting at some point in the future.
