This place hadn't been open for 18 months when I first visited, though I had their beer at brewfests before that. They truly have come a long way in that time.

As of 2010, their beer lineup was one extremely light beer, three medium golden beers, one stout, and finally Vindicator IPA. I've found that their beers consistently have an off taste, something too earthy. The IPA did not, but it's got big body and big hops that might be compensating.

Still, most are good enough to have another pint of and stick around while you watch the ATVs drive by.

This brewery is in an old brick building in the middle of downtown. This was once the Couer D'Alene hardware and foundry and took some unigue remodeling to make it a brewery.

The actual wood bar has been in town for 30 years and was brought over from another bar and restored. The town is over 125 years old and is where the movie Dante's Inferno was filmed. Gambling and bordellos were here illegally and then were effectively basically outlawed in 1991. The town has some really interesting history and is worth spending some time in.
Of course I tried the sampler and the first beer was Rock Head ale, a light American pils, Crisp and clean with a lite color, lite cascade hops. They use Idaho pilsner malted barley for a unigue taste and they use am Australian lager yeast. They brewed this beer to compete with Rainer, which was the town's favorite beer. The next beer was called Wallace Honeys, and it has a lite sweet aroma and malty flavor, this is a good beer, it has a nice deep gold color. Red light is a red wheat and honey lager with a unigue flavor, Lite but medium mouthfeel and slighly sweet flavor. Dirty Blonde American pale ale has some crystal malt and hop aroma. While I was sampling the beers The owner, Chase, gave me a local history lesson about the 1910 fire and some of the local events they host. They mined more silver from this area than Virginia City, a town right in my backyard in Nevada. Vindicator IPA has a nice malt flavor with a nice hop flavor from cascade and willamette hops. The brewery has red cups for a town law that allows you to carry liquor in public if it's in a red cup. These one's have their logo on them! The last beer was Jack Leg Stout. It's an Irish creme stout with moderate roasted coffee aroma, another good beer.
This is a brewery only so there is no food. You are welcome to bring your own food in. The tasting room is a true bar area and large and they often host special events or parties.

This is truely a unique place and worth going out of your way for. If Chase is there plan on spending some quality time with him as he is a plethora of information. They do sell logo pint glasses, shot glasses and t-shirts and have their own coasters. An American classic!
