This is my go to spot in Santa Cruz. It's a big brewery with a lot of seating right next to Seabright beach. Their Blur IPA is very good, so is their Sacrilicious Ale.

I wish they had a brewery like this downtown because it's kind of out of the way. But its definitely walkable from the Boardwalk.

Don't forget to order their garlic fries and sit outside on the patio.

Seabright Brewery is in a fairly generic stuccoed small strip mall and has a suburban/beach feel. The entrance is well down the parking lot and not immediately visible from the street. The suburban/generic feeling continues inside with wooden tables and chairs and a wooden bar on the right side. Many TVs showing sports are all over the space. They distinguish themselves from the local competition by signs advertising themselves as “Santa Cruz’s 100% original non-organic brewery” :-)

There’s an extensive outdoor patio with many plastic tables and chairs and outdoor heaters. Two tall Mexican fan palms emphasize the California environment. A low raised bed of plantings screens the street from your table.

There were eight house-made beers and a rotating tap on our visit: 2 IPAs, a pale, an amber, an oatmeal stout, a hoppy red ale, a honey blond, and a light (“Low Life”) as well as Two Rivers cider from Sacramento and Dow Equis Lager. Both of the IPAs were quite good.

Food is standard pub fare. The Ring of Fire burger we had was good, however, and VERY spicy.

This was the last stop on our first day of our bay area beer tour. It was dark and rainy, we drove right past it the first time we went by. When we did find it, it kind of seemed like it was an old hotel from the outside, I'm probably wrong though. As usual we got the sampler consisting of a pale ale, amber, stout, MBYC ale (which seemed like a weak IPA), Barley wine, Wheat, and a Red. The red seemed to have a hoppy taste to it. All the beers were ok, the stout was served too cold. Both the Stout (after it warmed up some) and the wheat were my fav's.

The place was very busy on a monday night, lots of familys. I tried their award winning fries, they were alright, I don't know what award they won, nothing special.

Seabright brewery is my go to brewery and restaurant in the area. My wife is getting tired of pub food, but I love it (the kids too). I regularly take the family to watch sports and have a pint or three.

They usually have a good selection of your standard beers (wheat, pale, amber, brown, ipa, etc) and they brew special brews too (fruity, barley wine, smoked, scottish, etc). Sometimes during the busy summer months they can have a hard time keeping up with demand, but I never go away thirsty.

They are a few blocks away from the beach and I can get a glimpse of the ocean from a couple of seats. The interior has a bright pub feeling, and the outside patio is a great place when its warm outside. The staff is usually very friendly and helpful. It is also very kid friendly.

Seabright brewery is a great place that I highly recommend. My favorite meal is a pint of Sacrilicious and cheesy fries (best I've had).

Cheers!

We have been dropping by Seabright for many years. In fact, I have one of their growler mugs (1 qt drinking jar) that must be nearly 20 years old. There is a good size bar and tall table seating along with some booths and tables for inside dining. There is also a large outside patio that is a great kick back spot on nice days. When we last visited, there were 8 house brews on tap plus an import and a cider. I enjoyed the Sacrilicious Ale and the El Pinguino (an ESB, last year’s collaborative brew with Goose Island). The menu includes a variety of sandwiches and salads that are typical of beach town locations. There is parking in the off street lot but it can get very crowded.

They always have a great variety in their beers to choose from and I've never been disappointed. I don't live in the area anymore but when I visit, I make a point of going to Seabright, sitting on the patio and having a few pints. The patio is a must if your int the area and the weather is good. The best brewpub in Santa Cruz and I would say one of the best in the Bay Area. Good pub food too.
