linkThe only one of Cologne's brewpubs near the city centre, "The Malt Mill" is relatively small by the cavernous standards of the town -- two smallish room divided down the centre and no obviously visible brewkit.
Mühlen Kölsch is one of the best examples of the style I've found, having an interesting herbal complexity, and this is the only place I know of which serves it -- from the cask, of course. If you fancy something different, well, the exit is clearly marked.
I found service friendly and attentive and the whole experience rather cosy and relaxing: not something you're always guaranteed in a Rhineland beerhall.
