The first time I visited this brewery was during a snowstorm on a drive through upstate NY. After braving feet of snow on unplowed roads, we showed up and it was closed.

The 2nd time I was in the area during the spring, which was clearly a better time to visit. I went with a few friends, and we had lunch out on their patio. I tried both the Railroad Red and 1812 Amber and enjoyed both. The food was good, and the location right along the lake was very scenic.

A nice brew pub on an amazing location right on the edge of Lake Ontario. They seemed to have quite a decent selection of different beers that they brewed. Tried the red ale which was pretty good. The menu also had a pretty good selection. If you are in Watertown or the area it is worth the short drive to check this place out, especially on a nice day when you can sit on the patio.

Was in the area on business and went over to try the brew pub out. It has a beautiful location on the lake and provided us with a great sunset with dinner.

They were out of a number of their regular brews, the server told us, but a flight of 6 was available. I tried the 1812 Amber, 1812 Light, Lake Effect Lager, Octoberfest, Steamroller Pale Ale and the Apple Bottom Ale. All were drinkable and the Lake Effect Lager was very good I thought. The Apple Bottom Ale was interesting as well. It has a flora and apple aroma and tasted somewhat like a lambic.

The food was excellent. Had the duck nachos and a pulled pork sandwich. I'm no fan of duck but the wife wanted to try it and I must say it was pretty tasty. As a southerner I was skeptical of northern pulled pork but was pleasantly surprised by that dish as well.

All in all a great location, great food and good beer.

This brewpub offers an upscale menu, $2 happy hour pints (4-6pm even on weekends), waterfront seating, as well as a classic building.

The beers we tried, an IPA, a Summer Pale Ale and a Strawberry Ale demonstrated a broad range of quality. The IPA brought nice floral aromas and strong hop flavor. The Summer Pale Ale was full flavored but also refreshing. The Strawberry ale on the otherhand tasted like a wheat beer with artificial strawberry flavoring (like you can pick up at your local homebrew store) and was underwhelming.

All in all, worth the drive from Interstate 81 for a nice drink sitting on the deck down by the water. Try the steak bruschetta as a delicious appetizer.
