linkThis was a lucky surprise, finding a beer bar randomly in this small town outside of Madison. It was on the main drag, nestled in among Victorian style buildings housing shops at the street level. What caught my eye was "Regional Craft Brews" on their sign, and a Capital neon in the window. The space itself was formerly a cabaret theater apparently. They host live music in the back on a very small stage.
Inside it was dark and cozy, with fairly high ceilings and a turn of the century feel. Several organic art-deco chandeliers cast a low glow from their globe lamps. There was a vertical striped wallpaper, with framed art hung salon style all around the place. In the front window there was a small couch and coffee table. There were maybe 15 tables in the place, and around 10 seats at the bar. Above the bar, a chalkboard listed the 6 craft beers they had on tap. The bartender (also a homebrewer) mentioned that they had a regional WI beer focus, and were open to suggestions.
The beer list had descriptions of 15 breweries on the back, and 30 beers on the list. Highlights were: Ale Asylum Contorter, GLBC Ed Fitzgerald, LL Tommys Porter, Coon Rock, Warped Speed, NG Black Wheat, Dancing Man, Spotted Cow, Furthermore Fatty Boombalatty, Lakefront Fuel Cafe Stout. Lake Louie IPA was on tap, and I had two since it was so fresh and full of grapefruit. The homemade cheesecake was very tasty and artfully presented. There was a full menu, but we didn't order meals on this visit.
This place seemed enthusiastic about craft beer, hopefully they gain a following here. I'd definitely return if I was out this way again.
