What an absolutely fantastic place. I have a annual pilgrimage from Newcastle Australia to this heaven every September. Love the place and the people. The sales that they have are fantastic for some great bargins. I always stock up with clothing and beer. The food is perfect and i always add a lot of pounds of weight for my return trip back home.
A tour with John Maier is a great insight into how talented this man is. To me he is the God of all brewers.

The Rogue Brewery is on the south side of the bay in Newport with a great view of the Bay, the bridge, and the boats. Next to the parking lot is where sports fishermen clean their fish. To get to the pub and restaurant, you walk into a tall red vertical cylinder, through doors, then wander through a yellow-lined marked trail through the fermenters to the back, and finally through the gift shop and up stairs. At the top of the stairs you can turn left to visit the bar area or right to visit the dining area.

The bar area is fairly small and cozy. A few stools face a window overlooking the harbor but otherwise the bar and tables run back from the window. Several windows in this part offer a view into the brewery. The bar is wooden as are the tables, benches, and floor. It has the typical worn space but true pub atmosphere that typifies Rogue.

The dining area is a big, tall ceilinged room with a few tables by the windows overlooking the harbor but most of the seating is in the middle of the fairly bright room.

We’ve never seen a brewpub other than Rogue with such an amazing selection of beers, all made here (except for two each from the Issaquah and Tracktown Rogue locations). There were 32 beers on tap on our latest visit! You can order a sampler tray with any four beers of your choice.

Arrived on a busy day,so instead of having a trained tour guide, one of the brewmasters led us through the brewery. His historical knowledge was limited, but he gave a great synopsis of the brewing process. The best part about the tour was was the brewmasters plaid flannel, so we picked one up on the way out. As the tour progressed it became clear that the beer is driving force behind Rouge - not nice offices, or service, or gleaming equipment. For example, they have an amazing selection of beers but only a few, sub par pint glass designs.

A full size brewery with a decent restaurant located on site. You get to wander through the fermenters to reach the restaurant and tasting room on the second floor. Both have windows looking out across the marina to old town Newport. There is casual table seating and a bar in the tasting room with additional tables in the dining area. A small deck is "outside" within the brewery overlooking the action. I enjoyed an Imperial Red and a Double Dead Guy so was glad to have a designated driver. The menu included a range of nice sandwiches and entrees that go well with the view but were a bit skimpy for my tastes. Our service in the restaurant area was a little slow, but acceptable. There is plenty of parking in the surrounding lots and if you drive toward the back lot, you can find the distillery.

This is one f the flagship places for the Pacific Northwest as Beer goes. I have been here countless times and even more so have sent so many people I should get a commission from them. I have been there when it was just a small little place and seen it grow to this giant and go every time I can when it is possible. I love the beer the view and the food. I wish the customer service from the regular wait staff or bartenders would become what the rest of rocking. Cause they all suck. The service for food, and the bar and or buying a tee shirt sucks. I am shocked at times but then I guess living in Newport you get what you get. I will still go there I just know when I get good service it will make the time there amazing. Keep the beer flowing and watch the sunset from the deck. If you can be there for a festival or a sale they are just awesome in that regards.
