I'm a local, and was really happy when other bars in town started carrying good beer. Castle Rock only has one brewery and could definitely use another. RY is pretty good standard bar food, and has made some improvements since they have received competition, but the beers are pretty average.

If this bar were in another part of town, I think that it would be pretty overlooked. I've been there many, many times and have had many of the "first-time" conversations with a very unwelcoming staff.

Competition is good for business, and Rockyard is getting better, but still a way to go, in my opinion before it deserves a 90's score.

This is a nice friendly place with a good sized food menu and about 8 beers made on the premises available. The main room is open with plenty of light (I was there for lunch). Not real noisy for as many people as were there. Very comfortable. They have several large screen TVs hung around tuned mostly to ESPN, but they don't have sound (I think that is a plus - they probably turn them up when something earth-shattering - like a Broncos game - is on.)
We had seven people and everyone enjoyed their lunches. They also have wine and some fancy martinis.

Rockyard Brewing is a pretty typical suburban brewpub, but they do it well. It's worth going there if you're in the area.

I was there only once. I had the White Ale and a salad. The White Ale was a good German-style hefeweizen, cloudy with citrusy flavors. I would prefer not to have fruit stuck in my beer - let the yeast provide the citrus - but maybe that makes me a snob. They call White Ale a seasonal, so it may not be available at all times.

Food was not creative, pretty typical, but done well. Service was friendly. Sports showing on several TVs in the bar area including at least one giant screen. Kids menu available and I wouldn't hesitate to take my family.
