This is a nice location of Dogfish Head's several alehouses(...with the 7-corners location reportedly to be the one with the best food of them all). The place is family friendly with all the dogfish beers we've grown to know and love. They do a great job of keeping up the quality here of the total experience. Beers are always in good condition and there's enough variety the there's something for everyone. One nice option you have at their locations is to get a 75 minute IPA...my favorite. You can only get this by asking for a half and half 60/90 here, or mixing them at home. They will not be offering this botteld separately.

I stopped in for dinner and some beer tasting on Tuesday last week. I had the six beer sampler, which that night consisted of the 60-minute IPA, 90-minute IPA, Alehouse 75, Festina Peche, Indian Brown Ale, and the Raison D’Etre. The 60-minute is 60 IBU and 6% ABV, 90 and 75 follow the same pattern. All were very good IPAs and you could feel the burn on the 90-minute. The Festina Peche is a summer peach wheat beer that tasted more like Champaign, it was tart but smooth. The Indian Brown had a nice caramelized malt flavor from the brown sugar. Finally, the Raison D’Etre has a wonderful flavor from the beet sugar, green raisins, and Belgian yeast. Although they don’t brew on the premises everything is brought in from their Delaware brewery. They had 11 beers on tap plus numerous other Dogfish Head bottled beers. I also enjoyed a pint of the Alehouse 75 with dinner which was the wood grilled chicken, onion rings, fries, and some spicy baked beans. The alehouse was busy but not crowded and I was seated right away. The service was outstanding. There is a center bar area with seating on two levels around the bar. Everything is no smoking. Pint prices are average for the regular beers. Once you start looking at the high alcohol/high gravity beers the prices go up. There is ample parking all around. Definitely worth another visit on my next trip to Virginia.

This is actually the closest location to my house, only a few miles away. Unfortunately for those traveling or without a car, that means it's distant from public transportation. While it may be near some bus routes, they can be confusing and not always desirable. Located in a shopping center with a Giant Supermarket (DFH Alehouses love to share real estate with grocery stores for some reason), and a Total Wine & More around the corner which has a great beer selection.

The interior is pretty standard, lots of tables and booths. I feel this one is a little smaller than the Falls Church location. There is a rather large U-Shaped bar with maybe 20 stools. There is also a small area where people can walk up to order a beer while waiting for a table. Not a lot of places have this, and it's a nice touch for those busy nights. TVs are scattered around the place, generally playing sports.

The beer selection is great, with plenty of options on tap, plenty of bottles, and even some vintages. The draft beers are at a good price, while the bottles are usually the high gravity and rare beers, so they can be pricey.

The food is above average, with a wide variety of choices from burgers to pizza to salads.

The service is about what you would expect. Prompt and nice, happy to come and get you another beer.

If only this place was within walking distance... it might be my second home. Recommended.
