linkThe Bier Stein in Eugene was a shock for me. I was not sure what to expect but it certainly was not what I saw. Tons of awesome barley pop awesomeness. This is one great place. Loved the bottle selection over 800 with tons I had never seen. The tap selection was also off the hook. Great food, beer and taps I was just wishing I could have slept there. Right off the campus I bet the college kids who appreciate beer love this place.

linkAfter numerous visits to Eugene, I finally made it to the Bier Stein.
This is a small place with painted cement floors, 1970s suspended ceiling, and what looks like a rec room bar. It has a bit of a Teutonic feel with Munich banners and beer steins on display. They also have some nice brewery artifacts on the walls.
The bar seats 6 and there is table seating for about 30 more. An open kitchen takes up about 1/4 of the space.
The Beer Stein offers 10 taps including one German Hefe, a cider, Guinness, and 7 PNW micros.
The bottle selection is massive. They have about 10 wall coolers that contain a huge selection of Micros, Belgians, beers from England, Scotland, Germany, etc. Believe me, you will see lots of stuff to try.
Great prices. Imperial pints at 4, most bottles are less than 3 (except larger and or rarer ones).
They have a very good staff. They are friendly and free with samples. They really know & cater to their regulars, but treated me like a long lost cousin that they were glad to see.
The animated crowd is a nice mix of ages and occupations. No tvs, so its all conversation. Great tunes in the background (think Stevie Ray Vaughn).
This is a great beer bar in a friendly town. Well worth repeat visits.
