Stopped in early on a Tuesday afternoon just before Happy Hour (nice! - half price on beer/apps) started. Didn't get much into the food except for appetizers which were all decent. Sampled or drank just about all the beers that were offered. Nothing too far from the mainstream. Highlights were Snow Cap and Thunderhead. Atmosphere was quiet until most of the after work crowd showed up, and at that point service suffered a bit.

Let me first being by saying that I really like Pyramid's beers. I think they make great beers and have a small but decent selection and types. However, the service at this location is is almost always terrible. Granted I have only been there a handful of times but 1 out of the 4 times I have been there I had good service. And they weren't busy at all at the time, yet it was happy hour. Should have been a warning. The food is okay. Not great not terrible. But nothing that would cause me to want to go back on its own. The food for what it is, is way overpriced compared to other places. Most of the time during dinner time I have seen the place packed. This is probably cause they have food and beer with lots of tvs. There are a lot of better bars around but not all of them carry pyramid beer nor have food. Some do but not all of them. Plus a lot of the bars don't have many tvs or are loud. So people looking to watch a game in a quiet place or if they want to watch the game but stadium pub is too packed, they probably come here.

I must say something more about the service so you understand what I am referring to. I would say that 3 out of the 4 or so times I have been there the food came to me cold or just took forever. Once we didn't even get our appetizer which we ordered since it was happy hour. However the last time I went their took the cake and I have not and will not step foot in their again.

What happened is that I decided to meet my friend and 3 of his friends at Pyramid. The place was packed and their was a huge party happening right next to our table. We didn't need to wait long for a table. However, once we sat down that was a whole different story. The waiter came and was friendly enough, took our orders for entrees and appetizers and drinks. Then we hardly saw him again. It took something like 30 minutes to get our appetizer which was cold. Then another 30-40 minutes to get our food. Which by the way was brought to us by other employees. I had to stop another waiter to get a refill of my soda and some napkins. Then I start eating my steak sandwich and it was cold and soggy. Then the waiter shows up with the bill. So I ask to speak to manager and explain what happened. So he takes 1 item off the bill (my sandwich) and gives up appetizers for free coupons. Assuming that we would want to go back. on the way out we pass the waiter and he says sorry, but didn't really sound like he meant it. Nor did we care at that point.

If you like pyramid beer got to bevmo, safeway or any other bar and drink it, steer clear of this place.

Overpriced, overcrowded, and overrated. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Pyramid's beers, but I would enjoy them more if they weren't so expensive at this place. The service is almost always poor, though on occasion I've had waiters that surprised me. The food takes forever to get to the tables, and while it is decent, it is also incredibly overpriced with portion sizes that are a bit lacking compared to most bars and breweries. This place is almost always packed, and honestly I think it has more to do with it being "trendy" with the Abercrombie & Finch Walnut Creek crowd right now than anything else. The selection of beers is limited to Pyramid's beers alone, which is somewhat disappointing. I don't recall exactly how many, but it was somewhere around 8.

Pyramid Walnut Creek has a friendlier, local feel compared to their main CA brewery in Berkeley. There is a good size arc shaped bar with additional table seating near the front entrance. The main dining area is off to the side and has a view into the brewing room. There are additional tables behind the bar and on the front deck as well as on the large patio out back. Eleven house brews are on the printed tap list. I enjoyed the Curve Ball (Kolsch) and Sling Shot EPA; both light seasonals. There may have been an additional brewer’s tap or two but the server didn’t provide any details. The menu has a decent range of burgers, typical pub sandwiches and dinner entrees. Service was slow and I finished most of my lunch waiting for a second brew. We found metered parking on the street but there were also public lots in the vicinity if you don’t mind walking a few blocks. The BART station is about a half mile away and there is free trolley service that stops right out front.
