Kindling Spirits is a unique boutique retailer in a small town in Southern Illinois. In and of itself, this fact is not unique. What makes Kindling special is that the owners want to help bring better beer to Southern Illinois - a beer wasteland in the shadow of the giant to the northwest. This retailer has done more than any other in the immediate area to this end.Kindling is a "hybrid" business, consisting of a full-service liquor store, catering business, bridal planning and floral shop. The liquor store's focus is local and regional wines, fine spirits and quite possibly the widest and most varied selection of craft beer and imports in the area.
You'll find Avery, Dogfish Head, Bear Republic, Founders, Hoppin' Frog, Dark Horse, The Lost Abbey, Lagunitas, Southern Tier and several other domestic brands in abundance. Some nice belgians are available now as well, including Gulden Draak, St. Bernardus Abt 12 and Mardesous. The selection isn't huge in comparison to some mega-stores, but what Kindling currently lacks in volume, they make up for in quality and customer service. If you're looking for something unique, Kindling will go out of their way to find it for you.
Stop in any monday night for "Drink Wisely" with the Beer Philosopher - an informal tasting/sampling session typically consisting of a dozen or more craft and imported beers + free food! 7-9 pm every Monday evening!
