This ale house is a few miles from the brewery.....
Wonderful bar/pub atmosphere when walking in. Most walls in the "restaurant" part of the pub are covered with tap handles from all over. The selection of beers is wonderful. Our party sampled the Pale Ale (not bad at all), the stout (my stout drinking friend loved it), the Red Ale, the Oktoberfest (my favorite), the Brown Mountain Light (VERY LIGHT, almost like water....not much taste), and the Ruby Lager (smooth, easy drinking with great flavor). All in the party were satisfied with the beers. We even asked for a keg (none at the ale house, we had to go to the brewery for it and they wanted a steep $100 deposit). The food was simple, and therefore a good compliment to the great beers. The ONLY issue in this place was our waiter. He was polite and as far as the food went, no problems. He didn't know much about the beers, and for a selection like this, he should. He even brought a few of us the wrong beers on more than one occasion. This is a minor issue. If driving on I-40 through Hickory, NC, I STRONGLY recommend a visit!!!!!!
