linkYou might think that the German-speaking people devote all their brewing time to perfecting their native styles, and it can seem that way from visiting their brewpubs: helles after helles, weizen after weizen, märzen after märzen. 1516 is a massive, and delicious, exception to the rule.
Set out over two floors in central Vienna it's a large but densely arranged bar with a funky faux-industrial style.
Beers brewed on the kit downstairs include hopped up American-style IPAs, stouts, and all manner of other interesting recipes from the wide world of beer. Expect to find six different brews on at once.
The food menu is extensive and, though I've never eaten there, it looks great on other people's plates. The ribs seem to be a particular speciality.
Service is very attentive, friendly and quite anglophone.
