About 15 minutes drive south east of the strip, Barley’s makes a welcome change from the glitter and excess of Las Vegas. Part casino, part brewpub, entering the place you are reminded it’s a casino complete with the sounds of slot machines and Nevada’s ubiquitous cloud of cigarette smoke.
Enter and hang a left towards either the bar or the restaurant area, which is farther to the left.
OK, I gotta admit, I’m a cheap bastard, so this place really appealed to me. They have a beer and burger special which is incredible. For $3.99, you get a great half-pound burger, fries and a 12oz glass of their brew. (The spicy fries are the best and don’t even think of getting the fruit cup... it’s nasty.)
My wife got the salad bar and was quite satisfied.
They have a happy hour (I forget the times) and 16oz glasses of their brew are always $2 at the restaurant.
The hefeweizen and porter were both really good. The oktoberfest was decent.
Solid beers and good cheap grub make this place a winner.
