I'm a resident of Columbus and I would say that without a doubt, Bodega is the best beer spots in the city. I work for an airline so I've traveled all over the country, up and down the eats and west coast, hitting any beer bar I can find and I would go as far as to say that Bodega is, all around, one of the better beer spots in the country.

They have 50 beers on tap and it is a pretty eclectic selection with a seasonal list that rotates often enough to justify frequent visits. They don't use a lot of "filler" BS taps either because let's face it, if I owned a bar, I could, as some bars do, throw down 50 taps of macros, common micros, imports and other crap and brag about how many taps I have (ie Yardhouse). Bodega consistently have beers that are not easy to find on tap as well as heavier beers such as double IPAs, tripels, quadrupels, imperials, and and aged beers. The prices are on par with any decent beer bar and the half price happy hour is literally unbeatable.

The atmosphere is about what you would expect from a trendy beer bar in a big college town. It's a generally younger crowd of college students, hipsters, and scene kids. The appearance of Bodega, inside and out, as well as the music is directed toward the same younger, trendier demographic.

The service is about what you would expect from a bar that is regularly very busy. I don't view this as a bad thing, though it is at times frustrating. You just have to expect what you would at any bar worth visiting.

The food is good enough to take someone on a date or eat healthy and avoid your typical bar food. I like everything I've had from their pizzas, salads, sandwiches and small plates. I recommend eating their, especially on $1 Grill Cheese and chips Mondays.

Overall, if you are into good beer, Bodega is a spot to check out anytime you are in Columbus and as you can tell by the A- overall rating on BA, it should not be passed up.

ah bodega, the crown jewel of high street...

I thought bodega was nice at first... a happy little trendified bar that had a nice 12 tap beer selection... I walked in after hitting a few spots and looked at their chalkboard that only displayed 12 beers... they have more than 12 beers, they have fifty... yeah, fifty... I came back after having some bar chat with some folks about best beer bar in town, and they were like... you cant beat 50 taps at bodega, I don't care how much of a beer snob you are... (so i went back) and looking at a beer list for bodega, noticed they had stone 12 and a really good handful of other beers on... maybe 10 I hadn't tried yet. I'm really glad I revisited this place and bellied up for some good old fashioned drinking.

It's atmosphere is somewhat a parody, the outside and it's outdoor seating is sort of a turn off to me, it's perky in it's way, but the inside is more beer bar, brown bar 30ish seats, and round tavern tables seating another 50... it's a big place, but it packs on the weekends so size doesn't matter at bodega. The interior isn't the study that betty's or surly girl is, but it's not a bad watering hole either... it was so packed that my goal was to get a seat at the bar and drink and go... I would devote more time, but I prefer a more relaxed setting, so a revisit upon opening is in order for a better look around... it's worth your time, just hit it with that in mind, so saying that...

service was preoccupied, not crappy... it was 4 deep at most spots vying for drinks... 4 deep and 4 bartenders... I ordered 2 beers right off, and got my check right away just so there was no being kept waiting as I was sort of crawling up and down high street...

food looked great, lots of fun stuff, cheeze plates and more a connoisseurs palate of fun beer paired foods... the menu takes that into account imo, they have foods both suitable for beer and wine and it really blends for best of both worlds as far as selection, quality, and from what I saw, portion.

again, not a destination, but a pretty fun place to stop and best of all a great place to get a beer with non beer people, they'll have their bag, you'll have yours.
