The Drei Kronen is where I stay at least part of the time I am in the Bamberg area. The proprietor Hans Ludwig Straub run the www.braugasthoefe.de orgainztion in Germany. Essentially a group of Brewery Inns across Germany, and a few in Austria, Denmark and others.

The DK is quaint and a site where brewing has taken place for a long time...several hundred years. The brewery has been updated though it still uses a coolship. Herr Straubs children are now undertaking brewing. Isa his daughter has brewed there for a while and is making good beer. Nothing astounding but good and enjoyable. Their rauch beer Stoffla is one of the more popular beers.

I enjoy the hote aspect of the DK with nice rooms and reasonable rates. Parking is free and plentiful in the back something not so common in Germany. Breakfast is another highlight with a very big buffet of cold cuts, cereal, breads, hard boiled eggs, yougurt and lots more.
