I love the atomsphere of this place, it reminds me of Roots in Portland. The beers have been spoken for so I will just explain the place a little. Parking is so-so there aren't alot of spots but it doesn't seem to be a problem as most locals walk or bike there. This place is set up mostly just for brew to go there is an L bar with some seating and a few extra tables and chairs. The beer is top notch. I highly recommend this place to anyone in Missoula.

This is a Brewery with a bar and a special section of the Bar for Growler refills which was constantly busy with people coming in to fill the growlers. Honey Hefe has some slight malt seetness and lite hops, a clean beer. Eddy out has some slight hop flavor balanced by moderate malt, it's a pale ale! lake missoula Amber has some crystal malt aroma and slight hops to balance, nice copper color. Ginseng Pale Ale is very lite in Ginseng flavor, just enough to tell it's there but not overpowering. Cold Smoke Scotch Ale has no real aroma I could smell at that point, but it does have the traditional scotch ale profile. Upon further review I could smell some Malt sweetness and taste it too and this is a good beer as well. Old Bongwater Porter has all the traditional porter flavor, the mouthfeel is medium lite for style but has a good creaminess, with some chocolate malt and low hop flavor and aroma. Interesting that this brewery has a special spigot with cold water to rinse out and prep a growler. I have been to over 175 breweries and have never seen that! Great Idea! Annika was our server and Al was at the BAr too and both were friendly and knowledgeable. Double Haul IPA has good hop aroma and some alcohol warming, well balanced for a big beer, seemed subtle with the big hops and alcohol but watchout! this is an interesting brewery and doea a ton of growler refills, no food so eat before you go! Worth the stop if you are in the area.

Low key place with a long bar and a few informal chairs.

On tap were: Long Haul IPA, Cold Smoke Scotch, A CAP that was well balanced and not too corny, Olde Bongwater hemp Porter, New Bongwater hemp pale and a Genseng Pale. Might have been 1 or 2 that I missed. Nitro stout tap was out.

Place was bust with locals, many taking growlers to go. Bar is home to this year's Missoula Independent Bartender of the year.

Due to MT's archaric laws, you can only get 3 16oz beers per day from a brewery (other places will give you 4 12oz) but tasters are available readily. Staff was well versed in the Kettle House's offerings.
