An inconspicuous little pub down a side-street, with a quaint Dickensian frontage and a simple painted wood interior. I visited in the afternoon so pretty much had the run of the place, but I'm told it gets packed out with the after-work crowd come five o'clock. Like many pubs in the financial and legal districts of London it doesn't open at weekends.

However, you don't come here for the ambiance. The Jerusalem is the only pub owned by the St Peter's Brewery, purveyor of some of the finest beers England has to offer. You won't even find handpumps at the bar: all the cask ales are poured directly from the cask. There's kegged lager and cider from other breweries, should one's tastes swing that way.

A definite must-visit on the London beer trail.
