I was a little surprised to see this added to the Beermapping database. It's a lovely pub, but like just about every lovely pub in Ireland, the beer selection is terrible: just the usual factory-made nitro-stouts and brewed-under-license lagers.

For craft beer nearby, there's Rebel Red at the Hi-B across the street, or better yet head up to the Franciscan Well.

The Long Valley is certainly worth a visit, but if you're looking for quality Irish beer, you're in the wrong joint.

This is by far my favorite Irish Pub ... in Ireland. The downstairs is nice and cozy (a long narrow room), the food is good, and the beer just the right temperature! The pub has been in operation since 1842 and you can feel it in the building. The upstairs (when I was there) was more of a picnic table arrangement (kind of like a German gasthaus) and hosted live music at night. I could have hung out in this pub the whole time. Interesting to men only (possibly) -- when I was there, when you went in the bathroom to use the urinal along the wall you looked up and saw only sky -- not too much fun if it was raining!
