"Bright and airy" is presumably the brief given to the designer when The Florence was being done up: huge south-facing windows look out into the street on two sides and high banquette seating ensures that the customers get the full benefit of the light. The décor is modern yet understated, in a classy, muted, shaker sort of way. The bar is in the middle and a small brewery sits behind glass in the corner. There's a patio out back for the smokers.

Two house beers are on tap: Bonobo: an English bitter, and Weasel: a pale and hoppy golden ale. Both are of first rate quality.

The menu is a cut above regular pub food and the service is excellent.

Good beer, good food, good atmos, good service. Well worth the trip out of central London.
