This area of Old City Philly has many interesting places to drink and dine within easy walking distance. Metered parking can be challenging, and there are several pay decks in the area. Three locations under the same ownership, Eulogy, Beneluxx and Bierstube, offer a great variety of cuisine and craft brews. Beneluxx's business model is unusual - they are only open Friday and Saturday nights, and each week hosts a different expert to suggest beer and wine pairings with a choice menu. Descend stone stairs to this unique subterranean restaurant, which feels like a dive bar but offers upscale food and beverage. Beneluxx's hallmark is a fine variety of cheeses and chocolates. There is a 12-chair copper-top bar, and a wall of table seating. It is a bit over-priced, but has an excellent selection of cheese, wine, and 15-taps of bold craft brews. On the first night I visited, there was a strong odor of cheese, and we enjoyed a nice fondue and beer.
