I am lucky to work less than 2 miles from State Line Liquors. The selection is awesome and they are neatly arranged by country along a single 30 foot shelving unit. Hundreds of imports, basically if it is available in MD they seem to have it. Another long shelf and cooler is dedicated strictly to craft beers and there are new additions weekly. In addition they have rep tastings for free and more formal themed tastings such as Belgian, Northern European, Heavy hopped brews etc. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Oh, they also have a very nice collection of wines and spirits. Gonna take 1/2 point for the rather pedestrian exterior.

I have been to liquor stores and beer vendors all over the country and the world, from Belgium to Australia, Norway to Chile. State Line Liquors has one of, if not THE, best selections of bottled beers I've ever had the please to see assembled in one place. From Belgian and other international beers, to American microbrews and mass-market standards, the variety available at State Line is absolutely remarkable. That such a great selection of beers could be found in such an understated, unassuming building in such a nondescript small town on the Maryland/Delaware border is even more remarkable. I live very close to State Line Liquors, and even still, I ignored it for my first three months here, since I assumed that a place that looked the way it did couldn't possibly have the non-mainstream drinks I've come to enjoy. Well, I learned never to judge a book by its cover. In my travels up and down the Eastern Seaboard, from Maine to Virginia, I can think of few other stores that have the beers selection or quality of State Line Liquors. It is the best-kept secret in the Philly-Baltimore area.

After stupidly driving all over Elkton and asking directions it turns out that State Line is just off the Interstate. Just looking at the building you might think this is a run of the mill liquor store, but inside you are treated to one of the best Belgian and Imported sections anywhere. The USA offerings are good, but pale in comparison to the International and Import sections.
Bottle after bottle of beers that are highly prized or that I had never heard of were presented in a mostly dust free and definitely organized manner. The beers are on a very long L-shaped section which is shelving on one side and coolers on the other. I didn't pine over the coolers as much as the bottle selection.
It appeared one could grab out single bottles to make a mixed-six, but I stuck with the singles. As I was finishing up filling the extra large basket the beer manager came over and chatted for awhile. He got called away to assist another customre, but it was nice to speak with him. At the register I was treated to a 10% discount on most of the items and then the cases were carried out to the car.
First class all the way. I wish this place was closer and that more beer stores would take a cue from them.
