This is the oldest brewery in Minnesota, and one of the oldest family owned breweries in America. They have recently built a new visitor center with a huge gift shop. Tours are a lot of fun and lets one see the old equipment as well as the new. We were lucky enough to get a personal tour with Brewer Dave Berg, and that was incredibly fun!

The grounds are fantastic with peacocks and deer, as well as abundant greenery and places to sit and enjoy the age and splendor of the place.

The beers: These range from Grain Belt (better to go local if you want American Lager...) to bock and a great sweet stout. They do a winter seasonal called Snowstorm each year with a different recipe: last year was a fantastic Baltic porter. The brewery is moving with the times and doing limitted and barrel aged beers now, keep it up guys!

An amazing family-owned brewery that has survived 100-plus years and brews various recipes of Schell's beer, the recently acquired Grain Belt line of beer as well as 1919 Root Beer which is unfortunately only available in kegs. Tours of the original 1800s brewery are available for only $2 and include a tasting of seven different brews. The grounds in front of the very secluded brewery are a public park and the gardens in front of the family mansion are open for leisurely strolls where the family's favorite animals roam free.
