Ninkasi Brewing in Eugene is one of the best beers in the Pac NW. This was a pleasure to visit. I sure was hoping the brewery was giving tours but it was an off weekend. Great beers, there is a huge outdoor patio for the warm summer days. The beers where awesome and I really liked what they had going on in the tap room. They have lots of events during the summer. They also bring in roach coaches to feed the troops with special menus.

I first had Ninkasi years ago when they were first developing their brand - focusing only on providing kegs to local Eugene hot-spots. Since then, they have been bottling there beers and are found troughout the state at local grocers.

Ninkasi has become my go-to brewery when I sit down and want a pint at any local bar. Offering selection is minimal at times, but they cover the bases: IPA, Double Red, Stout, and various Seasonals. The current winter seasonal offering is Sleigh'r. It is the perfect winter ale for our Eugene weather. Far too often I get a winter seasonal that is too hoppy and bitter, but this beer has warm malty notes with soft subtle hops.

Offerings include: Total Domination IPA, Believer Double Red, Oatis Stout, Sleigh'r, Tricerahops Double IPA (DELICIOUS!!!)

Though the selection is limited, it covers the bases. The quality and care in each beer far outweighs the smaller beer selection. So that is why I give it a solid 4.75.

Located in a low-key neighborhood in Eugene, in a small warehouse-y complex that’s shared with a contractor’s supply business, Ninkasi Brewing is a fairly small place that brews beers with a big attitude. There is a tasting room (offering two free tastes on your visit) that sells t-shirts, pint glasses, and beer to go (but only in wholesale volumes, i.e., 5 gallon minimum).

Four beers were available on our visit - Total Domination IPA, Triceratops (Imperial IPA), Believer (red ale), and a Pale Ale. Each of them is an extreme (and good) experience.

We could probably have had a tour if we’d called ahead, but we still could see a good deal of the various parts of the brewery from the fenced parking lot (where we were able to wander around with our beer tasters).
