As of early 2012, Gordon-Biersch operates 29 brewpub locations throughout the US. They have a core series of five German-style beers that is offered at all their locations - a very nice Czech-style Pilsner, their flavorful Hefeweizen, a hearty German-style Marzen, their crisp Golden Export, and a roasted Schwarzbier. I definitely recommend visiting any G-B location to try a sampler of these, plus several other rotating seasonals (I enjoyed the Winter Bock). Upon entering each restaurant, I am tempted by garlic aromas, and I am consistently impressed with their tasty menu. Their food menu has a good variety of appetizers, pizza, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and a good variety of entrees featuring poultry, seafood and meats. The Rockville MD brewpub is located in the bustling Rockville Town Square Mall, which has plenty of shopping, restaurants, and a movie theater. Patio seating is available. Pay parking is required.

Brewpub is in part of rehab-ed downtown Rockville area. It's pleasantly situated from a lighting and space perspective. However, it also has a somewhat sterile feel to it, with nothing that truly distinguishes it as its own "place".

Appetizers of egg rolls and wings were both good quality. G-B, like most chains, has brought a very definite consistency and quality to their food and beer. Unfortunately, it was an extremely busy Friday night and our service suffered.

Pilsner was still too heavy on the palate to be considered of merit. Still, I admired the effort, as most brewpubs shy away from this type.
