Southern Season seems to not be able to figure out if it really wants to sell beer or not. The beer is in the back right corner of the store and is the one-eyed stepchild of sorts. Even the newsletter has touted wine over beer. They have a library setup with shelving around the perimeter and a single wall with a cold case. Prices are often pretty good, but the selection goes from great to very poor. At one time it was a store to seek out, at the last visit it was almost one to avoid due to poor selection.

Keep an eye out for a sale and then drop in.

We recently visited A Southern Season's beer department on our last visit to NC. They have a decent selection of craft and import beers tucked very deep in the back of the wine department.

There is a four or five door clear glass cooler that holds singles and you can also mix and match singles to create your own discounted six-packs from the room-temp beer too.

I would not use a Southern Season as a substitute to the other stores in the area, but it could be used as a counterpoint or possibly a store that could compliment other stores if you are on a buying spree in the area.
