The Common Market is a cool, quirky, bohemian/hippie store just off of the Plaza. They had a good selection of beer, most of which was in the cooler. In addition to normal market items, there’s a sandwich shop with good desserts, they have wine tastings, and you can drink the beer you just bought at one of the tables while you check your email on their wireless.

People taking children should take note, the folks that run the place like to use the “F” word. It’s written on the wall, on the bumper stickers, etc. It didn’t bother me… just adds to the bohemian ambiance. But I left my children at the grandparents. Had they come, we might have had a Seinfeld-like situation where, after the child heard the “F” word, they try inserting it as much as possible into each sentence. ”Benji, get your f***g hands off of my f***g toy.”

The Common Market is a cool place to buy beer, maybe drink a few, have a sandwich, shoot the shit. I’ll definitely go back.

Update 08/17/07

Stopped by-things are pretty much unchanged. One thing that caught my eye, at least one item was priced really high. Duck Rabbit Wee Heavy Scottish Ale was priced at $13 per sixer. It seemed high so I didn’t buy it.

A couple days later I was in Brawley’s and it was $2 or $3 less. Glad I waited. (I tweaked the score given.)
