Since I was already in the area, I stopped by Ace's new and improved store to see what things were like.

Selection is very nice. There were several beers here that I hadn't seen before. An entire wall of coolers is devoted almost entirely to beer. The good stuff is near the front of the store. You have to go a long way to the back to find the cheap stuff. With a few exceptions, everything is kept in the coolers. New arrivals are clearly marked.

The coolers face east, and there are small windows on the east wall of the store. Hopefully, those windows are far enough away that there is no fear of morning sun hitting the coolers every day.

I wasn't impressed with the prices. Some beers were competitively priced, but many others were a dollar or more higher than I've seen at other places. This was especially true of the more obscure beers. Also, almost nothing of any consequence was on sale. They had a special going on Boulder Brewery beers, and that was it for the craft brews. Also, I didn't see a build-your-own section. Very disappointing in my book.

Service was OK. I was there late on a Wednesday, and there were only two people working who paid no attention to me. I didn't mind being left alone, however. At least they were friendly when I checked out.

I will probably go back here for beers I can't find anywhere else. For the rest of my needs, I'll be visiting other stores.
