Birreria Paradiso is actually the downstairs section of Pizzeria Paradiso's Georgetown location. The restaurant is located in an area with lots of high price shops in a nice neighborhood in D.C. My recommended path (if taking the subway) is to get off at the orange line Foggy Bottom-GWU stop, take a left, go around the rotary to Pennsylvania Ave then walk to M street, and continue until you find BP on the left.
The downstairs bar is a very cozy area (I'm stealing that from several reviews, but it fits perfectly) with a small bar area that seats 10-12 people. There is seating in the same area, along with stacks of wood, but not for the fire (it's gas). Next to the fireplace are some comfy lounge chairs. If you can grab these then you're in the best spot. Beer swag covers the walls.
There is a good selection of draft beer, ranging from lighter drinkable beers to heavy stouts and DIPAs. Each draft beer is described on a sheet, along with a little booklet of beers available from a bottle. The beers are a bit pricey, mostly from the area that they are located in (D.C.), but there appears to be a slight mark-up.
There staff is knowledgable, enough to describe the beers available, but I did hear some mistakes in the different styles. The pizza is great, as mentioned in other reviews.
All in all, a great place to visit. Best beer place in Georgetown, one of the top places in D.C. It's certainly my favorite place to go in D.C./NoVA. It may not have the most taps in D.C., but it certainly has the best atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Ok they're doing it all right here. This is just about the best overall beer bar destination in the Washington area. The comfortable downstairs of this popular pizza restaurant is their featured beer bar. There are about 15 taps (all good), and a cask beer is always available too. Check the website for regularly maintained updates on taps, and you'll have to get down there quick if you see something you like in particular. The barman here knows his beers and they move quickly and are well kept. You'll find the finest in hoppy IPAs from the US like Three Floyds Alpha King alongside kegs of Belgian breweries' Saisons, Goldens, and Strong ales like Gouden Carolus Cuvée Van De Keizer from Het Anker. The bottle selection is likewise first rate. Oh, and by the way, the pizza is excellent. Visit their new location with similar tap availability at 2003 P Street (Dupont Circle), opened in late August of 2009.

Wow. You walk in the front door and you don't realize what a great beer selection they have! Then you look at the menu. Their menu when I was there featured "On Cask - Allagash Brewing Co. Dubbel Reserve," sixteen small batch selections (on draft!), many other options in the bottle. The Belgian selection was phenomenal. The atmosphere is very cozy in the basement -- highly recommend this location for a great beer.

Open since February 2002, Birreria Paradiso has truly enhanced the already stellar selection at Pizzeria Paradiso. With 16 drafts and one cask that rotate continuously, the selection never disappoints. Bar manager Greg Jasgur is passionate about his work and knows his stuff. Happy hours on Tues and Wed from 5-7p feature half price drafts and food specials. If you're a beer lover and haven't checked this place out yet, you definitely should. They hold regular beer tastings with brewers as well.
