Stopped in for a visit after hitting Mudhook Brewing since it is around the corner. ***The map location listed is wrong; it's in downtown York, not Hallam.*** Thirty rotating beers on tap, all different varieties, served in appropriate glassware. I was in a stout kind of mood & they did not disappoint. There were six on the board and as I had already sampled a couple listed, I had the other four. I was impressed by the selection of beers & after liking their Facebook page, I get updates on kegs they've tapped. Will definitely go again when in the area.
The selection of beer available is what distinguishes the Holy Hound from surrounding bars. They have about 30 on tap with a good variety. A significant portion of their selection is IPAs and Pale Ales with many coming from the West Coast. However, with so many on tap I can usually find a good local stout or porter which is my preference. The place is packed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights but getting a beer is relatively easy. The location is great in downtown York only a block from the White Rose. Also within walking distance is Mudhooks, Liquid Hero, Maewyn's, and Bistro 19. Across from the White Rose is a small two tiered parking garage that is free after 5pm on weekdays and all day weekends. Street parking is available too.
