Ocean Springs is a great small town with plenty of quaint shops and dining options. Government Street has a great variety of cuisine from which to choose. Crooked Letter Brewery is located in a small one story brick building with large windows, and ample parking in front. The building has a narrow patio along the front, enclosed with a white wooden fence. The facade is rather plain with only a large banner with their company name for advertisement. The brewery tap room is not open yet and the place is only open on Saturdays for tours. Fortunately, it is not hard to find their beer at one of the bars in Ocean Springs. When I visited I found the brewmaster, John, inside working on a batch of beer. He was very friendly and was kind enough to give me a quick look around the brewery. There is a small area in the front where they will sell Crooked Letter paraphernalia, and will have a small walk up tasting bar. For now they only package in kegs but are planning to expand with a small bottling line. This fledgling brewery has grown from a 15 gallon experimental set up to a 15-BBL brewing system. In the back of the building is the stainless steel brewhouse, and in the middle of the building are their stainless steel fermenters. As of early 2013, they have two beers commercially available with two more about to launch. Their Gipsy IPA is great, and their Mystery Romp Mocha Porter is richly delicious. I really look forward to Crooked Letter expanding their product line, and I will have to visit them again. I really hope this new brewery does well, because it's great to see passionate craft brewing in South Mississippi.
