Charleston is a good sized city nestled in a central West Virginia valley. The approaching drive is highlighted by the shiny gold dome of the state capital building. Parking is metered along the city streets, and there are plenty of places to eat in this area. Pies & Pints is an enjoyable franchise specializing in pizza and craft beer. The Charleston location occupies the ground floor of a five story brick building. The front facade is wood painted bright green, with their oval logo overhead. In front of the entrance is a narrow black metal fenced patio area with a few tables. Just inside is small 7-chair wooden bar overlooking a row of 20 varied tap handles for craft brews. A couple of these are their "White Elephant" house beers, which are actually brews from the nearby Charleston brewery. To the left is a refrigerated case with dozens of well-chosen global bottled beer. On the right is plenty of seating going far back into the building. The floor is wooden and the solid color walls are decorated with mirrors and wooden WV cutouts. On one wall is an antique beer can collection. In the center is their pizza kitchen, and the wonderful aromas are inviting. Their food menu consists of a few pizzeria appetizers and sandwiches, salads, and all variety of gourmet pizza. The excellent service is friendly, helpful, and very responsive. Very nice place for drinks and delicious pizza.

This is a pretty cool place. I only sat at the bar and I didn't get a chance to look around the entire restaurant. It's on the smaller side, and is probably pretty crowded on the weekends. I was there around 9:30 on a Friday but was able to get a spot at the bar with a couple friends. There is a TV at the bar as well. Bartenders seemed knowledgeable.

There were about 10 taps along with a couple fridges full of beer from around the world. They had a few local selections which is great, especially since people in WV seem to know how to brew their beer. I had a Coffee Stout from Bridge Brew Works and it was fantastic. They also let me buy a couple bottles out of the fridge that I was able to take home.

The specialty of this place is pizza as implied by the name. Didn't get a chance to look at the menu, but the one on the website shows an okay variety, mostly Italian from my quick glance.

The parking is probably just standard city parking, I'm not aware of any public transit.
