Since Tapestry opened in 2011, it has made a fine addition to Philly's impressive craft beer scene. This area of Philly's Queen Village, known as South Street Head House District, reminds me of New Orleans' Bourbon Street. Erotic shops and tattoo parlors are dispersed amongst a great variety of shopping, bars and restaurants. It's an area of great diversity and all kinds of cuisine. Street parking is metered, and can be challenging during peak hours. Tapestry has a street corner entrance, with black painted brick and a black awning. There are 8 sidewalk tables for outdoor seating. Inside, the wall are black and white and the floors are white tiled. Large windows are treated with red curtains. There are plenty of dining tables and a 15 chair black wooden L-shaped bar. They have 24 beers on tap, a premium mix of American and European craft brewing excellence. These are meticulously served in appropriate glassware. A shame they don't offer sampler flights, but they are happy share a small tasting of a beer if you are undecided. In addition to the draft beer, they have about 170 bottles of national crafts and western European delights. Their food menu consists of creative upscale appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizza, and entrees. I thoroughly enjoyed my gourmet burger, fine ingredients well prepared, representative of Philly's culinary excellence. The staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. If you're touring South Street, I highly recommend walking a block south to seek out Tapestry.
