Rays' is one of the few downtown Kent locations that haven't changed over the years as the town has undergone a redevelopment and rebuilding transformation. Downtown Kent has seen a lot of new buildings go up with a flurry of new bars and restaurants spring up as the city reinvents itself. Downtown Kent is now full of not just students, but locals enjoying the new nightlife, shops, coffee bars and boutique stores.

Rays is still the same slightly grungy college bar it ever was serving decent food with an above average list of beers that you wouldn't have expected to find in a typical college watering hole. An Kent icon, Rays is a must stop if you just want to have a beer in a comfortable old college bar. The food is decent, the atmosphere what you'd expect in a college town, but the people and the beer are the highlights.
