Southwark is fine restaurant for dining and drinks. This area of Philly's Queen Village, known as South Street Head House District, reminds me of New Orleans' Bourbon Street. Erotic shops and tattoo parlors are dispersed amongst a great variety of shopping, bars and restaurants. It's an area of great diversity and all kinds of cuisine. Street parking is metered, and can be challenging during peak hours. Southwark has a beige brick exterior with a street corner entrance. Enter into the bar area, the bar is on the right, and high top tables are along the window. The atmosphere is upscale, with beige walls, wood trim, and decorative tiled ceiling. Behind their 17-chair wooden bar is a mirror-backed top-shelf liquor collection. Past the bar area is a small dining room, and further back is an exit to their small outdoor patio. Their food menu features a variety of gourmet dishes with creative combinations of locally sourced ingredients. They feature impressive wine and cocktail menus, and although it's not their emphasis, they have 8 taps of craft beers which rotate frequently. Southwark offers carefully crafted cuisine, professional service, with pleasant ambience.
