Manny Brown's has been a popular South Street establishment for over 25 years. This area of Philly's Queen Village, known as South Street Head House District, reminds me of New Orleans' Bourbon Street. Erotic shops and tattoo parlors are dispersed amongst a great variety of shopping, bars and restaurants. It's an area of great diversity and all kinds of cuisine. Street parking is metered, and can be challenging during peak hours. Manny Brown's has a white stucco facade with blue wooden trim. During nice weather, they roll up their front garage door to create an inviting entryway. Enter, and the 14-chair copper-topped bar is on the right and the dining room is straight ahead further back. There are several televisions, and over the bar area is a graffitied dollar bill collection. Low architectural tiled ceilings and creaking wooden floors create the cozy feel of an English tavern. The long narrow dining room has a center aisle with tables on either side and a wooden framed ceiling. The food menu consists of inexpensive expanded pub fare, sandwiches, pizza, and a few entrees. The beer offering include 16 taps of domestic craft brews, about half of which turn over frequently with interesting new beers. They also have about 50 bottled beers, a mix of typical mass market, imported and domestic craft standards. Manny Brown's is a friendly place to enjoy a beer in a casual atmosphere.

Stopped in for a quick beer to check out the bar. Great beer selection lots of breweries, styles, and beers to choose from. The printed beer menu was up-to-date which is surprisingly rare for beer bars anymore. They had on tap everything that they said they did, which was nice.

Service was good, I ordered and received my beer quickly. It was a Sunday afternoon, so it was not crowded at all, so I don't know how they are when it's more crowded.

It's a good place to stop in for a beer or two if you're walking South Street.
