Chardon is a smaller town about 40 minutes from downtown Cleveland. The brewery is located in a refurbished old building right in the town square. The building rehab is nice, however, the overall fee of the rehab is for more of an upscale type restraurant with white walls and lots of ornate work on the ceilings. The brewery does have some nicely framed old Ohio brewery memorabilia.
The brewery had reference to many beers that were not currently available, was disappointed they had a Pumpkin beer listed but was no longer available. The available beers were 2 kolsch, dunkelweiss, maple porter and IPA. Only tried the maple porter and IPA and both were very good quality. The IPA in particular had enough hop to have a nice flavor but was no overpowered by the hop.
The food selection was not extensive but what I had was good. I had an everything burger which included their own BBQ sauce made with their maple porter, cole slaw and onion rings on a pretzel bun. Was a very fine burger. Also substituted sweet potato fries which were also quite good.
Now for the unfortunate part of the experience, the service. This is not a particularly large restraurant, so tables are premium. When we arrived, it was not particularly busy and we sat right down. There were however two larger parties already seated that received basically all the attention. It took about 15 minutes to get a drink and that was after the owner asked us if anyone had helped yet. The waitress did finally take our order, but in hurry. She forgot out appetizer not once but twice, only refilled our beers after they had been empty for a time and never asked if we wanted anything else. I was glad I did not make a special drive to go out there.
