I stumbled across Funkwerks by mistake when I was driving to check out what I thought was Ft. Collins Brewery. I was very pleased with Google Maps error because this place serves delicious funky beers.
When I was there in February 2011 they had a 6 beer sampler tray for $8 - all of which were saisons or a similar funky style of beer. All 6 beers were delicious and did an excellent job of capturing the style they were going for.
One of my common criticisms about beer tasting in general is that samples are most often served in small, 3-5 ounce cylindrical shaped glasses that are terrible for capturing aroma. Well, it seems Funkwerks shares this sentiment because they gives you all samples in a full size tulip glass (they also pour generously).
It is refreshing to see a brewery doing something different than the typical English or American beer style lineup you see at most breweries in the area.
I gave 4.25 stars for the food because they have a cheese plate, but little selection and no serving variety. Cheese and beer pair so well together, it's uncanny most breweries do not serve cheese platters. There is room for improvement with the cheese selection. They only have a couple of kinds from a local cheese company, and they sell you a whole cheese wheel at one time, rather than providing a variety of smaller serving cheese options on one plate, as you would typically find on a cheese platter.

In the location of the old Fort Collins Brewery (now at 1020 Lincoln), this brewery is specializing in Saison beers. We visited Christmas week and had a sample to the current three beers.
All were appropriate for the style and very enjoyable. The tasting room is the same as was used by FCB. They have shirts and glasses for sale, but we didn't see bottles at that time.
Now you can walk from here to FCB, Odell and then New Belgium... maybe!
