our hometown brewery, we have drank so much rainbow red and boneyard barleywine we can taste it all the way in montana. trout river always has a strong lineup of brews, including nitros. their pizza menu is one of the best in vermont and the hoppin' mad ipa and chocolate oatmeal stout flow slow like the passumpic river. the northeast kingdom hosts a couple of great new england breweries, trout river is one of them.

One of my many stops on the Vermont Brewery Challenge. This place was a little out of the way for me to get to. My first stop there on a Thursday was disappointing due to the fact they're only open on the weekends. On my next visit it was much better. Before i entered the store one of the employees opened a window and told me i couldn't come in unless i changed out of my Long Trail Ale sweatshirt. He was kidding of course. This was truely a unique place. It's a pizza shop with a brewery in it. Their beers were good and the staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome (even with the Long Trail sweatshirt on) They congratulated me on finishing the Vermont Brewery Challenge and i took what was left of my pizza home with me.
